Get The Texas Chain Saw Massacre on SteamSit with me a moment. In the old horror films the house is a character. You remember the creak of the floor more than the plot. This game understood that, and built houses you will remember. The sad part is what happened after the doors opened.
What It Wants To Be
This is a 3 versus 4 online horror game based on the 1974 film. Three players are the Sawyer family, Leatherface included, hunting four victims who sneak, unlock doors, and try to escape the property. Victims play stealthy and smart; the family patrols, sets traps, and feeds Grandpa blood so he can sense the victims.
What Works
The maps are beautiful and dirty, full of crawl spaces, locks, and shortcuts. Three killers instead of one makes the hunt feel like a family at work, and the victims must play quiet instead of running in circles. PCGamesN gave it 8 out of 10 for its environments, variety, and replay value. When a match goes right, it is a tense little horror movie.
What Breaks
Listen well. Gun Interactive announced in May 2025 that the game would get no more content, balance updates, or bug fixes. A planned move to peer to peer was cancelled in September 2025, and the game stays on its May 2025 build. Dedicated servers are still running, but Gun has not promised how long. Matchmaking also depends on enough players filling both sides. Buy knowing the game is finished, frozen, and slowly emptying.
Who Should Play
Play it if you have friends to play with and you love the film, especially while it is cheap. Skip it if you want a live game that keeps growing; Dead by Daylight is still getting new content.
