THE QUARRY: NINE COUNSELORS, ONE LONG NIGHT

8.0 of 10 bananas. Supermassive took the Until Dawn formula to a summer camp full of werewolves: nine counselors, one night, and every one of them can live or die by your choices. Slow first hours and button prompt action hold it back, but with friends on the couch it is a great horror movie night.
By the Alpha. PS5 game listing. Updated Oct 22 2026.
Honest note: This is not a fresh hands-on playtest. I built this verdict from launch reviews, critic consensus, update history, and what is known about the game today. If I put real hours in on stream, I will update the score and say so.
Platforms: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC (Supermassive Games and 2K, released June 2022). The Amazon button is the US PS5 disc. At my Oct 22 check the new offer came from a third-party seller (Springfield Distribution), shipped by Amazon, at 23.17 dollars. Know this before you pay: on PC the Steam version was on sale for 5.99 dollars at the same check, so PC players should buy it there.
Get The Quarry for PS5 on AmazonSit with me a moment. Every troop has a last night of summer. The young ones stay up too late, say things they cannot take back, and wander off where the elders told them not to go. The Quarry is that night, with something hungry in the woods.
What It Wants To Be
The Quarry is an interactive horror drama. Nine teen counselors at Hackett's Quarry summer camp stay one night too long, and the night goes very wrong. You switch between them, make dialogue choices, explore, and survive quick button prompts and hold your breath moments. Any counselor can die, and the story bends around who is left. It also has a movie mode where you just watch, and couch and online party modes where friends each take characters.
What Works
The cast is the hook: David Arquette, Ariel Winter, Justice Smith, Brenda Song, and horror veterans like Lance Henriksen, Lin Shaye, Ted Raimi, and Grace Zabriskie, with strong facial capture. The writing is funnier and warmer than Until Dawn, and the counselors feel like real friends by the time the blood starts. Choices matter in big and small ways, which makes a second run tempting. On Steam it sat at Very Positive with about 82 percent of 25,660 user reviews positive at my Oct 22 check.
What Breaks
Listen well. The first two hours are slow, mostly teen drama before the horror arrives. When action comes it is button prompts, not real control, and a missed prompt can kill a favorite with little warning. A few counselors get far less screen time than others, and some deaths feel decided by small, unclear moments. The disc on Amazon is a third-party seller item, so the price can move.
Who Should Play
Play it if you loved Until Dawn, or if you want a horror night with friends passing the controller. Skip it if you want to aim, fight, or explore freely: this is a movie you steer, not an action game.
