LITTLE NIGHTMARES II: SMALL HANDS, BIG DREAD

8.5 of 10 bananas. A sharper, bigger sequel: Mono and Six cross a broken Pale City past some of the creepiest giants in games. Short, with some trial and error deaths, but the art direction and the ending stay with you.
By the Alpha. PS4 game listing. Updated Oct 22 2026.
Honest note: This is not a fresh hands-on playtest. I built this verdict from launch reviews, critic consensus, update history, and what is known about the game today. If I put real hours in on stream, I will update the score and say so.
Platforms: PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC (Tarsier Studios and Bandai Namco, released February 2021). The Amazon button is the US PS4 disc, which also runs on a PS5 with a disc drive through backward compatibility. At my Oct 22 check the new offer came from a third-party seller (GAMES R US), shipped by Amazon, at 21.40 dollars. Check the seller before you pay.
Get Little Nightmares II for PS4 on AmazonSit with me a moment. To a baby ape, the whole world is giants. Little Nightmares II remembers that feeling and turns it into a game: you are small, the adults are monsters, and every door is too heavy.
What It Wants To Be
Little Nightmares II is a side view puzzle platformer with horror at its core. You play Mono, a boy with a paper bag on his head, who finds Six, the hero of the first game, and the two travel together through a sick, rotting city toward a tower sending a strange signal. You sneak, climb, solve light puzzles, and run from giant figures like the Teacher and the Doctor. There is no dialogue; the story lives in the world.
What Works
The art direction is the star: every room looks like a stop motion nightmare, and the sound design makes small things scary. The giants are memorable and unsettling, especially the Teacher with her stretching neck. Having Six beside you adds warmth to a cold world, and the ending is one the troop still argues about. The game has an 83 Metacritic score on its Steam page and was Very Positive there, about 93 percent of 59,020 user reviews, at my Oct 22 check.
What Breaks
Listen well. It is short, a few evenings at most. Some chase scenes rely on trial and error, so you die before you know what the game wants. The combat moments, where Mono swings heavy objects, feel clumsy. And the disc on Amazon is a third-party seller item, so the price can move.
Who Should Play
Play it if you loved Inside, Limbo, or the first Little Nightmares, or if you want a short, beautiful horror trip. Skip it if trial and error deaths make you throw the controller.
