What It Wants To Be
Naughty Dog rebuilt The Last of Us for PlayStation 5, released September 2, 2022, later on PC. Joel smuggles Ellie across a fallen United States. The remake keeps the campaign and Left Behind, upgrades visuals, DualSense feedback, accessibility, and AI, without rewriting the plot.
What Works
The story still leads the troop. Performances, pacing, and quiet scenes between gunfights remain elite. Stealth and scarce ammo force patience. DualSense triggers make every bow draw and revolver shot feel weighted. Accessibility options help more of the troop finish the climb. Left Behind remains a sharp short story about Ellie and Riley.
What Breaks
Listen well. This is a remake, not Part II. If you already own the Remastered version and only want a fresh coat of paint, the jump is smaller. Some combat encounters still feel of their era. The tone is heavy by design. Young gorillas who want pure power fantasy should look elsewhere.
Who Should Play
