7.5 of 10 bananas. Massive Entertainment's open world Star Wars game makes you a small time thief juggling crime syndicates across several planets. The worlds, the speeder rides, and Nix the pet are lovely; the stealth and shooting are only fine.

Honest note: This is not a fresh hands-on playtest. I built this verdict from launch reviews, critic consensus, update history, and what is known about the game today. If I put real hours in on stream, I will update the score and say so.

Sit with me a moment. Every young ape who saw a smuggler shoot first wanted the same thing: a ship, a blaster, a small furry partner, and a galaxy that does not care about you. Star Wars Outlaws hands you all four. It just forgets to make the heists as exciting as the daydream.

What It Wants To Be

Star Wars Outlaws is a third person open world action adventure set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. You play Kay Vess, a thief with a debt and a price on her head, with her creature companion Nix. You explore several planets on foot and by speeder, fly your ship in space, sneak and shoot through bases, and take jobs for rival crime syndicates. A reputation system decides which syndicates welcome you and which hunt you.

What Works

Critics placed it in the mid 70s on Metacritic. The planets look and sound exactly like Star Wars, and the cantinas, markets, and side jobs make the galaxy feel lived in. Nix is a great partner who distracts guards and grabs items. The syndicate reputation system adds smart choices, and later patches improved the stealth and difficulty options.

What Breaks

Listen well. The stealth was strict at launch and the shooting is only average. Missions follow a familiar Ubisoft checklist. Space flight is shallow. The story plays it safe. Ubisoft said publicly that sales fell short of its hopes. At 14.97 dollars, most of that is easy to forgive.

Who Should Play

Play it if you love Star Wars worlds, open world exploring, and a scoundrel story. Skip it if you want a deep shooter or tight stealth; Jedi Survivor has much better combat.
