METAL GEAR SOLID DELTA: THE JUNGLE REMEMBERS

8.5 of 10 bananas. A loving, faithful rebuild of a classic. Beautiful, careful, and sometimes too afraid to change.
By the Alpha. PS5 Tactical Edition disc listing. Updated Oct 11 2026.
Honest note: This is not a fresh hands-on playtest. I built this verdict from launch reviews, critic consensus, patch history, and what is known about the game today. If I put real hours in on stream, I will update the score and say so.
Platforms: The Amazon button is the PS5 Tactical Edition disc, which bundles the full game with a Sneaking DLC pack. At my check it was sold by a third-party seller and shipped by Amazon. The game also runs on Xbox Series X|S and PC on Steam. There is no PS4 version. Launch reviews flagged frame rate drops, worse on PC, so check current patch notes if performance matters to you.
Get Metal Gear Solid Delta Tactical Edition for PS5 on AmazonSit with me a moment. A gorilla knows the jungle. So when Konami rebuilt the most famous jungle in gaming, I paid attention. Crawling through tall grass in Delta, with mud on the camo and a guard humming three steps away, felt like coming home to a place I knew by heart.
What It Wants To Be
Konami's 2025 remake of Metal Gear Solid 3, rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5. It is 1964, and Naked Snake drops into a Soviet jungle to stop his own mentor, The Boss. The story, the original voice cast, and the structure stay almost untouched. The big change is a modern over-the-shoulder control style alongside a legacy option, plus a world that looks the way you remembered it, not the way it was.
What Works
The jungle looks incredible, and it matters: camouflage, mud, and foliage all feed the stealth. The story still hits hard, and the final act with The Boss lands as well as it did in 2004. The new controls make sneaking, aiming, and CQC feel natural. Classic boss fights, especially The End, remain some of the most creative in gaming. Survival systems like food and injuries still give the mission texture.
What Breaks
Listen well. The remake is so faithful that dated parts survive too: long cutscenes, fussy menus for camo and healing, and small areas split by loading. Launch reviews flagged frame rate drops, worse on PC. For players who know the original by heart, there are few surprises. Konami played it safe, and you can feel the caution.
Who Should Play
Play if you never finished MGS3 or want to see it in modern clothes. Skip if you hate long cutscenes or want an open world stealth sandbox. If Death Stranding made you curious about Kojima's roots, this is where the legend grew.
