Get Ghost of Tsushima on AmazonSit with me a moment. Some games yell directions at you. Ghost of Tsushima lets the wind point the way. I swipe the touchpad, grass bends toward the goal, and I ride. That one idea tells you how much care went into this island.
What It Wants To Be
Sucker Punch's samurai open world. Jin Sakai fights the Mongol invasion of Tsushima in 1274 and slowly turns into the Ghost. The Director's Cut adds the Iki Island expansion and the Legends co-op mode. It came to PS5 in 2021 and to PC in May 2024 through Nixxes.
What Works
Standoffs and sword stances make combat crisp. The island is stunning, with fields of flowers and red leaves that look like paintings. Guiding wind removes map clutter. Iki Island adds a sharper story chapter. Legends gives you a real co-op mode with friends. Kurosawa mode is a lovely black and white touch.
What Breaks
Listen well. Under the beauty sits a familiar open-world checklist: camps, outposts, collectibles. Stealth AI is forgiving. Side quests repeat their structure. The second half drags if you clear every icon.
Who Should Play
Play if you want a beautiful, calm, confident action game with strong swordplay. Skip if you are tired of Ubisoft-style map clearing. For the sequel, read my Ghost of Yotei verdict.
