The first time I spread the web wings over the East River and glided from Brooklyn into Manhattan without touching a rooftop, I stopped fighting and just flew. That is the trick this sequel pulls. The city got bigger, and getting across it got more fun, not more tiring.
What It Wants To Be
Insomniac's 2023 PS5 sequel puts both Spider-Men in one story. Peter Parker and Miles Morales share Marvel's New York, now stretched across the river into Queens and Brooklyn, and you swap between them in the open world. Kraven the Hunter arrives looking for a worthy kill, and the Venom symbiote is waiting for someone to bond with. The PC version came to Steam in January 2025.
What Works
Traversal is the best in the genre. Web wings, wind tunnels, and the classic swing combine into pure flow, and fast travel is nearly instant. Combat adds parries plus a fresh set of gadgets and powers for each hero, and the symbiote abilities hit with real weight. Big set pieces land like summer blockbusters, and switching between Peter and Miles keeps the pacing fresh. Side stories in Brooklyn and Queens carry more heart than the usual tower checklist.
What Breaks
Listen well. It is a safe sequel. The structure follows the first two games closely, and some fights feel like reruns. The Venom arc moves fast, and some villains get less room than they deserve. A few slow stealth sections break the rhythm. And the open world, while beautiful, still leans on collectibles to fill the map.
Who Should Play
