Sit with me a moment. Gorillas know trees. We know how a good swing feels in the shoulder. Insomniac nailed that feeling. The first time I dropped off a Manhattan rooftop, caught a web inches from the street, and launched back up, I forgot about the mission marker for a full hour.

What It Wants To Be

Insomniac Games' open-world Spider-Man, first released on PS4 in 2018 and remastered for PS5 in 2020. Nixxes brought the Remastered edition to PC in August 2022. You play a veteran Peter Parker juggling crime, work, and his friends. It includes The City That Never Sleeps story add-on.

What Works

Web swinging is the best traversal in any superhero game I know. Combat flows between punches, gadgets, and environmental throws like a fight choreographer planned it. Peter is written as a tired, kind adult, and the story's villains get real motives. The boss fights are big, loud, and fun. New York looks fantastic, and on PC it scales well.

What Breaks

Listen well. The map is full of towers, bases, and collectibles that repeat. Crimes become routine by the middle. Forced stealth sections as Mary Jane and Miles slow the pace. The base game plays it safe as an open world, and it shows its 2018 age in structure.

Who Should Play

Play if you want to feel like Spider-Man and do not mind a checklist map. Skip if you are tired of towers and side activity icons. For a story game with stronger feelings, read my God of War Ragnarok verdict.
