8.5 of 10 bananas. Eidos-Montreal's linear Guardians adventure, with Star-Lord leading a team that never stops talking, bickering, and joking. Brilliant writing and a killer 80s soundtrack carry combat that gets repetitive.

Honest note: This is not a fresh hands-on playtest. I built this verdict from launch reviews, critic consensus, update history, and what is known about the game today. If I put real hours in on stream, I will update the score and say so.

Sit with me a moment. Most superhero games give you one hero and a lot of lonely rooftops. This one gives you five misfits in one ship who will not stop arguing about everything, and somehow it became one of the funniest, warmest stories my troop has played.

What It Wants To Be

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is a single player, third person action adventure. You play only as Star-Lord, while Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot fight beside you and follow your commands. Between fights you explore linear levels and make dialogue choices that change scenes. In the Huddle, Star-Lord gives a pep talk and an 80s song kicks in to power up the team.

What Works

Critics placed it around 80 on Metacritic, and many players call it underrated. The writing is the star: the banter never stops, it reacts to what you do, and the story turns surprisingly emotional. The licensed 80s soundtrack and the Huddle are pure joy, and the alien worlds look great on PS5.

What Breaks

Listen well. Combat is the weak link, a busy mix of blasting and team commands that gets repetitive. Levels are linear with simple puzzles. It runs long for what it is. Square Enix said publicly that its sales fell short of expectations, so no sequel is coming. And this copy may be a European import from a third-party seller.

Who Should Play

Play it if you love character driven stories, Marvel, or great writing in games. Skip it if you need deep combat; Spider-Man 2 fights better.
