LEGO BATMAN: LEGACY OF THE DARK KNIGHT: GOTHAM IN BRICKS, AND THE BEST LEGO GAME IN YEARS

8.5 of 10 bananas. TT Games builds an open Gotham out of bricks and tells a whole Batman life story with jokes. Critics loved the variety, the gliding, and the detective puzzles; it is a full price game, and some players will find the formula familiar.

Honest note: This is not a fresh hands-on playtest. I built this verdict from launch reviews, critic consensus, update history, and what is known about the game today. If I put real hours in on stream, I will update the score and say so.

Sit with me a moment. The troop has smashed a lot of LEGO studs over the years, and most LEGO games blur together. Then this one let us glide off a Gotham rooftop at night, land on a villain, and solve a crime with a magnifying glass. The silverback laughed out loud more than once.
What It Wants To Be
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is an action adventure set in an open world LEGO Gotham. You follow Batman across his career, team up with allies like Robin, glide and grapple across the city, fight crooks, build gadgets from bricks, and solve detective puzzles. It is rated E10+ and built for families as much as for Batman fans.
What Works
Critics placed it at 83 on Metacritic from 87 reviews, with 92 percent of them positive. Reviewers praised the varied gameplay, the big visual upgrade over older LEGO games, and the clever, funny story. Gliding across Gotham feels great, and the detective sections give it more variety than most LEGO games.
What Breaks
Listen well. At its heart it is still a LEGO game: collecting studs, breaking things, and simple combat. Some players will find the formula familiar. Metacritic lists no online multiplayer. The price was still about full at my check. And as always with open world LEGO games, collecting everything takes a very long time.
Who Should Play
Play it if you love Batman, LEGO games, or want an open world game the whole family can enjoy. Skip it if you want the dark, hard fights of the Arkham games.
