BATMAN: ARKHAM KNIGHT: GOTHAM BURNS, THE KNIGHT RIDES

8.5 of 10 bananas. The best Gotham ever built and the finest combat in the series, with too much tank in the trunk.

Honest note: This is not a fresh hands-on playtest. I built this verdict from launch reviews, critic consensus, patch history, and what is known about the game today. If I put real hours in on stream, I will update the score and say so.
Platforms: The Amazon button is the PS4 disc (Warner Bros.). At my check Amazon showed it in stock from a third-party seller, shipped by Amazon. Check the seller and price before you pay. The PS4 disc plays on PS5. It is also on Xbox One, PC on Steam, and Nintendo Switch inside the Batman: Arkham Trilogy collection.
Get Batman: Arkham Knight for PS4 on AmazonSit with me a moment. The first time I glided off a Gotham rooftop in the rain, I sat back and let the city breathe. Neon, smoke, and sirens everywhere. Rocksteady built the most beautiful version of Batman's city ever made, and a decade later it still holds up better than many new games.
What It Wants To Be
Rocksteady's 2015 finale closes the Arkham trilogy. Scarecrow floods Gotham with fear toxin, a mysterious militia leader called the Arkham Knight hunts Batman, and the whole city becomes a playground for gliding, grappling, and brawling. It wants to be the definitive Batman fantasy, with the Batmobile added as a second weapon.
What Works
Free flow combat is at its peak here, with more enemy types, environmental takedowns, and fear takedowns that chain like a dance. Gotham is dense, gorgeous, and fun to cross. Predator rooms remain a masterclass in stealth design. Mark Hamill's Joker, appearing in a clever new way, is a highlight of the story. Side cases like the Riddler trophies and Most Wanted missions give the city a long life.
What Breaks
Listen well. The Batmobile is overused. Tank battles against drones repeat far too often, and some Riddler puzzles and the final stretch lean on it hard. The Arkham Knight twist was easy to guess for many fans. The full ending is locked behind clearing nearly every side quest. And the original PC launch was so broken that Warner pulled it from sale for months. Later patches fixed much of it, but PC players should read recent reports.
Who Should Play
Play if you love Batman, stealth action, or open cities built for movement. Start with Arkham Asylum and Arkham City if you can. Skip if repetitive vehicle combat drives you up a tree.
