Sit with me a moment. College football is loud, young, and a little chaotic, like a troop of teenage apes. This game captures the noise better than ever. It also buries you in paperwork.

What It Wants To Be

College Football 27 lets you build a program in Dynasty mode, chase a Heisman in Road to Glory, or play quick games with real school stadiums, bands, and mascots. This year adds smarter defense, NIL and athletic director expectations, and deeper recruiting and staff management.

What Works

Critics like the football. Metacritic shows a 78 on PS5 from 15 critics with no negative reviews. Forbes gave it a 93 and called it the high point of EA's football revival, and Console Creatures said it is the best the series has been. IGN gave it a 7 and praised the smart on field additions. The atmosphere is still the star.

What Breaks

Listen well. The Metacritic user score is a 2.4, with players angry about microtransactions and Road to Glory teammates. IGN said Dynasty and Road to Glory lean hard into spreadsheet management, and DualShockers called Dynasty bloated and the game a patch or two away from running right. Impulsegamer noted Madden 27 may now play better.

Who Should Play

Play it if you love college football and want the best looking version of it. Skip it if you bought last year's game and hate menu heavy modes.
