DOME KEEPER: DIG FAST, RUN HOME, AND HOLD THE GLASS

8.0 of 10 bananas. Bippinbits' roguelike splits every minute between mining under your dome and racing back up to defend it from alien waves. A tight, tense loop with great pixel art; short runs, and it can feel predictable after a few weekends.
By the Alpha. Steam listing. Updated Nov 1 2026.
Honest note: This is not a fresh hands-on playtest. I built this verdict from launch reviews, critic consensus, update history, and what is known about the game today. If I put real hours in on stream, I will update the score and say so.
Platforms: PC on Steam for Windows, Mac, and Linux, plus Xbox Series X|S since December 9 2025 (developed by Bippinbits, published by Raw Fury, released September 27 2022). The button is the Steam page, 17.99 dollars at my Nov 1 2026 check. I did not find a fair US Amazon listing, so Steam is the only button.
Get Dome Keeper on SteamSit with me a moment. Greed is a quiet voice. In Dome Keeper it whispers one more block of iron, one more tunnel. Then the timer hits zero, monsters slam the glass above you, and you are still far below, digging home with your heart in your throat.
What It Wants To Be
Dome Keeper is a roguelike mix of mining and tower defense. You dig down through the planet under your dome, carry resources back, and spend them on upgrades for your drill, your dome, and its weapons. Every few minutes a wave of aliens attacks, and you must be back inside to fight them off with a laser or other weapon. In the main mode you win by digging up a relic and bringing it home, and you lose when your dome breaks.
What Works
Critics gave it generally favorable reviews. PC Gamer called it a simple yet nuanced roguelike and praised the weapons and resource management. The pull between digging deeper and running home is brilliant, the pixel art and sound design are moody, and upgrades let you build different strategies each run.
What Breaks
Listen well. Runs are short and the total content is modest, which critics noted. After several runs it can feel predictable. Eurogamer felt the mining and the defense pull against each other instead of blending. There were a few small technical issues at launch.
Who Should Play
Play it if you like tense roguelikes with short runs, or you want one more run games for evenings. Skip it if you want a long campaign or hate timers.
STRENGTHS
- Brilliant dig or defend tension
- Moody pixel art and sound
- Different upgrade paths per run
- Fair price
HONEST COSTS
- Short runs and modest content
- Predictable after a while
- Two halves can feel split
- Steam only button
Store note: the troop still needs an Amazon referral for this one. Dome Keeper is sold as a digital game, and I did not verify a fair US Amazon listing. Steam is the only button until a fair listing is real. This is not an affiliate link.
