ALIEN: ISOLATION: HIDE, LISTEN, BREATHE QUIETLY

9.0 of 10 bananas. The scariest hunter in gaming, stalking you through a station that feels built in 1979.
By the Alpha. Steam storefront. Updated Oct 13 2026.
Honest note: This is not a fresh hands-on playtest. I built this verdict from launch reviews, critic consensus, patch history, and what is known about the game today. If I put real hours in on stream, I will update the score and say so.
Platforms: PC on Steam is the button. Alien: Isolation is also on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. No Amazon listing is linked yet, so Steam is the only button.
Get Alien: Isolation on SteamSit with me a moment. I have hunted in a lot of jungles. This is the one game where I felt like the prey. A gorilla hiding in a locker, holding his breath, listening to something sniff the vent above him. Ten years on, it still works.
What It Wants To Be
Creative Assembly's 2014 survival horror game puts you in the shoes of Amanda Ripley, daughter of Ellen, searching for answers on the Sevastopol space station. One Xenomorph roams the station, and you cannot kill it. You hide, distract, and run.
What Works
The Alien is the star. It does not follow a script. It hunts by sound and sight, checks lockers, and learns when you lean on the same trick too often. The motion tracker beeps, the station creaks, and every room becomes a decision. The art direction nails the chunky, analog sci-fi look of the 1979 film, down to the boxy monitors. Crafting noisemakers and flares gives you just enough tools to feel clever without feeling safe.
What Breaks
Listen well. It runs long for a horror game, and the final third stretches past the point where the fear stays fresh. The android Working Joes are creepy at first, then tiring. Manual save stations mean you can lose a lot of progress to one bad moment, which some players love and others quit over. Human enemies feel weaker than the main threat.
Who Should Play
Play if you love horror that comes from tension, not jump scares, and you can handle being helpless. Skip if you need to fight back, or if long sessions of hiding sound like work. Creative Assembly has said a sequel is in development, so now is a good time to catch up.
STRENGTHS
- A truly frightening hunter
- Faithful 1979 film look
- Tense, sound-driven stealth
- Clever crafting tools
HONEST COSTS
- Last third runs long
- Androids wear thin
- Harsh manual saves
- Weak human enemies
Store note: Steam is the only button until a real Amazon listing is linked. The troop earns nothing from the Steam link.
