7.5 of 10 bananas. An officially licensed wired Xbox controller with rumble, impulse triggers, a 10 foot USB-C cable, and a headset jack, for under 30 dollars at my check. A smart spare pad for the couch, but it is wired only and I have not held it.

By the Alpha. Gear review. Updated Oct 26 2026.

Honest note: This is not a hands-on test. I have not held this controller for this review. I built this verdict from the Amazon listing and its Best Sellers rank across six days of my own checks, plus PowerA's own controller pages. I have not tested the sticks, the triggers, or the cable. If I get one on stream, I will update the score and say so.

Sit with me a moment. Every house with an Xbox knows the moment. A cousin visits, the second controller is dead, and the charging cable is in another room. A spare pad that runs off a cable is not glamorous. It is peace on the couch.

What It Is

This is PowerA's wired controller for Xbox Series X|S in black. Per the Amazon listing, it is officially licensed for Xbox Series X|S and also works on Xbox One and Windows 10 and 11 PCs. It has dual rumble motors, impulse triggers with their own motors, a 10 foot USB-C cable, a 3.5mm headset jack, and anti-friction rings around the sticks. PowerA's free Gamer HQ app lets you test and calibrate it, and the listing names a 2 year limited warranty. There is no battery, no wireless, and no Bluetooth: it works while plugged in.

Read this before you buy: the listing marks the impulse triggers with an asterisk and does not explain it on the page. On Xbox, impulse trigger rumble only works in games built to use it. The listing does not list PlayStation or Switch, so do not count on it there. Those are listing claims; I have not checked them.

Why It Is Moving

On October 26 2026 this black wired controller was number 73 in Amazon Best Sellers in Video Games, up from number 84 on October 25, 80 on October 23, and 93 on October 22 in my own captures of the same chart. The listing carried an Amazon's Choice badge and said 4K+ bought in the past month, with 4.2 of 5 stars from 20,639 ratings. Listen well: that is a steady climb into the holiday season, the kind a cheap spare controller makes when families start shopping. It is not an overnight explosion, and Amazon's Movers and Shakers charts showed no data when I checked, so I am not claiming one.

Who It Is For

Families who need a second or third Xbox controller, players who sit near the console or the PC, and anyone tired of dead batteries in the middle of a match. It is also a fair first controller for a PC player who wants the Xbox layout without spending much.

What To Watch Out For

The cable. Ten feet is generous, but you are still tied to the box, and a cable across the living room floor is a trip hazard for small apes. The rating is good, not great, and Amazon may share ratings across the colors and designs on the same listing. Budget pads from any brand usually feel lighter than first-party controllers, and this one is no wireless replacement. If you want hall effect sticks or extra buttons, PowerA sells other wired models at higher prices.
