8BITDO X25 CHARGING DOCK: A GREEN THRONE FOR YOUR XBOX PAD
7.5 of 10 bananas. An officially licensed Xbox charging dock in see-through OG green, made for the 25th anniversary, with a rechargeable battery pack that hides behind your original battery door. Climbing Amazon's Video Games chart in its first days on sale. Fair money for a good looking dock, but it charges one controller and it is brand new with almost no buyer reviews yet.
By the Alpha. Gear review. Updated Oct 22 2026.
Honest note: This is not a hands-on test. I have not used this dock for this review. I built this verdict from 8BitDo's own product page and specs, the Xbox Wire announcement, and the Amazon listing with its Best Sellers ranks. It has almost no buyer reviews yet, so there is no long term reliability record. If I get one on stream, I will update the score and say so.
Sit with me a moment. In 2001 a big black box with a green jewel on top walked into the jungle, and the troop has never been the same. Twenty five years later Xbox is celebrating with see-through green gear, and the one climbing the charts fastest is not a controller or a headset. It is a place to put your controller down.
What It Is
This is the 8BitDo Ultimate Charging Dock for XBOX Controllers, X25 Special Edition. Per 8BitDo and the Amazon listing, it is officially licensed by Xbox and works with Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One wireless controllers. In the box: the dock, one 1000mAh semi-solid-state lithium battery pack that goes inside your controller, and a USB cable. The power adapter is not included. You put the pack in, close your original battery door, and set the controller on the dock; there are no contact pins to line up. 8BitDo lists about 3.5 hours to charge, an amber light while charging and white when full with two brightness levels, passive cooling with no fan, and a size of 121.3 by 74.8 by 73.7 mm at 200 g. Those are maker claims; I have not measured them.
Read this before you buy: it charges one controller at a time and comes with one battery pack. It is shaped to match the X25 Special Edition controller, which is sold separately, but 8BitDo says it fits Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One wireless controllers in general. 8BitDo does not list a battery life per charge on its page, so I will not guess one.
Why It Is Selling
Xbox announced this dock on Xbox Wire on August 25 2026 as part of the Designed for XBOX 25th Anniversary Collection, and 8BitDo's store listed it as shipping from October 20. On October 22 2026 the listing showed number 78 in all of Video Games Best Sellers, up from number 96 on my October 21 check, number 2 in Xbox Series X and S Batteries and Chargers, a number 1 New Release badge in that category, and 1K+ bought in the past month, with only one buyer rating so far. It was 39.99 dollars, sold and shipped by Amazon.com, the same as 8BitDo's own price. 8BitDo's own store showed this edition sold out with a November 25 ship date at my check. Listen well: this is a fresh launch climbing fast, not a long proven best seller. Amazon's Movers and Shakers chart showed no data when I checked, so I am not claiming one.
Who It Is For
Xbox players who still feed their controller AA batteries, and anyone who wants the 25th anniversary look on the desk. If you already own the X25 Special Edition controller, this is the matching piece. Streamers who want a clean desk and a controller that is always charged before going live will get the point fast.
What To Watch Out For
One controller, one pack. Two player homes need two docks or a different charger. No power adapter in the box. It is brand new, so nobody can tell you yet how the battery pack holds up after months. And part of the price is the anniversary look: 8BitDo sells other editions of this dock, so if you do not care about the green, compare before you buy.
