PDP AFTERGLOW WIRELESS DELUXE: A GLOWING SECOND PAD FOR 25 DOLLARS
7.0 of 10 bananas. A clear, RGB lit wireless pad for Switch and Switch 2 from PDP, officially licensed by Nintendo. It hit the Slickdeals front page on Nov 1 at 24.99 dollars, 55 percent under its 54.99 dollar list price, and IGN's deals desk picked it up the same weekend. A cheap, fun second controller, with some layout and spec questions you should know first.
By the Alpha. Gear review. Updated Nov 3 2026.
Honest note: This is not a hands-on test. I have not held this controller for this review. I built this verdict from the Amazon listing, the Slickdeals deal thread and its comments, and IGN's deal coverage. If I get one on stream, I will update the score and say so.
Store check, Nov 3 2026: new units on offer, sold and shipped by Amazon.com, at 24.99 dollars against a 54.99 dollar list price. Prices and sellers change, so look before you pay.
Sit with me a moment. Every troop has a guest who gets the bad controller. The sticky one, the one with the dead battery. A cheap, decent second pad ends that argument before the first race starts.
What It Is
This is PDP's Afterglow Wireless Deluxe Controller, a full size wireless pad licensed by Nintendo. The shell is see through, and RGB LEDs light the inside in the color you pick. Per the listing it works with Switch, Switch Lite, Switch OLED, and Switch 2, has motion controls, two mappable back buttons, and a built in rechargeable battery. The listing title claims 40 hours of battery, but the product description on the same family of listings says over 20 hours, so I trust the lower number until I test it. Those are maker claims; I have not measured them.
Why It Is Moving
A price drop lit it up. On Nov 1 the deal hit the Slickdeals front page at 24.99 dollars from Amazon, with the poster noting an earlier front page deal at the same price. IGN's daily deals post also featured it at 24.99 dollars. At my Nov 3 check the listing showed an Amazon's Choice badge, 2K plus bought in the past month, and 4.5 stars from 10,674 ratings. Read it as a hot deal on a long selling pad, not a brand new product.
Who It Is For
Families and friends who need a second or third controller for Mario Kart, Mario Party, or Switch Sports nights, and anyone who wants a pad that glows. At 24.99 dollars it costs well under half of Nintendo's own Pro Controller.
What To Watch Out For
Listen well. A Slickdeals commenter who owns the Switch 1 version said it works on Switch 2, but the Home and plus buttons sit in swapped spots, so you may hit Home by accident. This is a 2019 era design, so it does not add Switch 2 specific buttons, and I could not confirm HD rumble or amiibo support from the listing, so do not count on them. The battery claim conflicts, as I said above. Third party pads also tend to feel lighter and less premium than the Pro Controller.
