7.5 of 10 bananas. A small camera cube that plugs into your TV and turns the living room into a motion game, no controllers, up to four players. It is going viral with parents right now and Amazon was selling it under list price at my check, but the full library needs a paid Play Pass and I have not tested it.

By the Alpha. Gear review. Updated Oct 27 2026.

Honest note: This is not a hands-on test. I have not set up or played a Nex Playground for this review. I built this verdict from the Amazon listing, Nex's own product, Play Pass, and privacy pages, published reviews from The Verge and WIRED, and a TikTok Shop sales report. If one lands in my living room on stream, I will update the score and say so.

Sit with me a moment. Every parent in my chat has said the same thing this month: the kids will not get off the couch. Then a small cube started showing up in their TikTok feeds, a family jumping around the living room with nothing in their hands. I do not trust a feed. I read what the cube actually does.

What It Is

Nex Playground is a motion game system from Nex. It is a small cube with a wide camera on the front that plugs into your TV over HDMI. The camera tracks your body, so you play by moving: jumping, ducking, swinging your arms. There are no controllers, and up to four people can play at once. Nex says it comes with five Starter Pack games, including Fruit Ninja, Whack-a-Mole Deluxe, Go Keeper, Starri, and Party Fowl. A paid Play Pass unlocks the full library of more than 60 games, 49 dollars for three months or 89 dollars a year on Nex's own shop, and one pass covers up to two consoles. Nex says there are no ads and no in-app purchases.

Read this before you buy: the Amazon button is the console only listing, with no Play Pass. Without a pass you get the five starter games. Nex says the camera processes movement on the device, video and audio are not stored or sent to the cloud, and the camera has a privacy cover and a light that shows when it is on. Those are Nex's claims; I have not checked them myself.

Why It Is Moving

This is a real spike, not a steady seller. A TikTok Shop sales report published October 19 2026 by TKFFF says the cube sold about 5,000 units on TikTok Shop US in 30 days, with more than 60 percent of that in the last seven days, and early October daily sales roughly 20 times late September, pushed by more than 300 small creator accounts, mostly parenting channels. The same report cites Circana data showing US sales in July more than doubled from a year earlier. On Amazon, the console listing I checked carried an Amazon's Choice badge, said 10K+ bought in the past month, and showed 4.7 of 5 stars from 5,412 ratings, while the 12 month Play Pass code sat at number 69 in Amazon Best Sellers in Video Games on October 27, up from 74 the day before in my own captures. Listen well: holiday gift season is part of this.

Who It Is For

Families with kids roughly between preschool and early teens, homes where the TV is the center of the room, and parents who want a game that makes everyone stand up. It also fits grandparents and party nights, since nobody has to learn a controller.

What To Watch Out For

The Play Pass. The box is the door, the pass is the house, and the yearly cost adds up on top of the console price. Reviews are mixed on the games: The Verge found real laughs with its kids, while WIRED called some of the games gimmicky. You need open floor space in front of the TV and good light for the camera. This is not a console for serious games, and it does not play anything from Nintendo, PlayStation, or Xbox. Ratings on Amazon may be shared across bundles on the same listing.
