META QUEST 3S 128GB: A GORILLA REVIEWS THE GOLF+ BUNDLE
8.0 of 10 bananas. The cheapest door into real standalone VR, now sold on Amazon with a GOLF+ code and 1,800 in-game credits instead of the old Gorilla Tag extras. Great value at its best, but battery life is short, comfort is mixed, and 349 dollars is full price, not a deal.
By the Alpha. Gear review. Updated Nov 3 2026. Rewritten again on Nov 3 because the same Amazon listing now sells the headset with GOLF+ included, and moved to a new address that matches what the button buys.
Honest note: This is not a hands-on test. I have not worn this headset for this review. I built this verdict from the Amazon listing and its Best Sellers ranks, buyer ratings, Amazon's summary of buyer feedback, and a published deal report from Gizmodo. If I get one on stream, I will update the score and say so.
Store check, Nov 3 2026: new units on offer, sold and shipped by Amazon.com, at 349 dollars with GOLF+ included per the listing. Prices and sellers change, so look before you pay.
Sit with me a moment. I have waited my whole career for a game where the players walk on their knuckles like me. Then Gorilla Tag arrived and an entire generation of young apes started swinging their arms across living rooms. So when the number one VR item on Amazon is a headset bundle named after it, the silverback has to say something.
What It Is
The Meta Quest 3S is a standalone VR headset: no PC, no console, no cable. Per the listing, it runs on the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chip, which Meta says has twice the graphics power of the Quest 2, with 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, two color cameras for full color passthrough so you can see your room and mix virtual objects into it, and a battery rated for more than two hours. Those are maker claims; I have not measured them.
What the button buys today: at my Nov 3 2026 check the listing is titled Meta Quest 3S 128GB, VR Headset, GOLF+ Included. The new offer was 349 dollars, sold and shipped by Amazon.com. Per the listing, you claim GOLF+ plus 1,800 in-game credits while pairing the headset with the Meta Horizon app, and the box holds the Quest 3S headset, a pre-installed facial interface, a glasses spacer, two Meta Quest Touch Plus controllers with AA batteries, two pre-installed wrist straps, a power adaptor, a charging cable, and three months of Meta Horizon+. Horizon+ is a subscription trial, so check the renewal terms. The old Gorilla Tag edition label is gone from the picker. Gorilla Tag itself is still free to play on Quest, so the kids lose nothing but the old cosmetics. If you do not golf, the bundle code is worth nothing to you, so judge the headset alone.
Why It Is Selling
It is climbing, slowly and steadily. In my daily captures of Amazon Best Sellers in Video Games it went from number 74 on Oct 27 to number 55 on Oct 28, held in the high 40s through Oct 31, then hit number 43 on Nov 1 and number 40 on Nov 2. On Nov 3 the listing showed number 47 in Video Games, number 1 in Standalone Virtual Reality Accessories, 10K plus bought in the past month, and 4.6 of 5 stars from 6,790 ratings. So it slipped a little today. Back on October 7 Gizmodo ran a deal story on the bundle at 297 dollars, but at my Nov 2 check it was 349 dollars, the full price. Holiday shopping, not a sale, is the likely push.
Who It Is For
Families with a young ape who already lives in Gorilla Tag, and anyone who wants their first real VR headset without buying a gaming PC. The passthrough cameras also make it friendlier for a crowded living room, because you can see the coffee table before you knuckle-run into it.
What To Watch Out For
Listen well. Amazon's own summary of buyer reviews says people find it fun and worth the price, with plenty of games, but image quality gets mixed feedback, with some buyers calling it crisp and others blurry. Comfort is mixed too, with some saying it gets uncomfortable over long sessions, and buyers flag battery life of a couple of hours. Gizmodo also notes that 128GB will feel tight as big games pile up. And the subscription is a trial that renews unless you cancel.
