SUPER MARIO PARTY JAMBOREE: THE BOARD GAME THAT ENDS FRIENDSHIPS, LOVINGLY

Super Mario Party Jamboree Nintendo Switch box art with Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, and friends, rated E
Box art credit: Nintendo, from the Amazon listing the button points to. This is the original Nintendo Switch cartridge, rated E.

8.0 of 10 bananas. The biggest Mario Party in years: seven boards, more than a hundred minigames, and modes for every kind of night. The best one since the GameCube days, but luck still rules, and online is not where it shines.

By the Alpha. Switch cartridge listing. Updated Oct 26 2026.

Honest note: This is not a fresh hands-on playtest. I built this verdict from launch reviews, critic consensus, update history, and what is known about the game today. If I put real hours in on stream, I will update the score and say so.

Platforms: Nintendo Switch (Nintendo, released October 17 2024), and the cartridge also runs on Switch 2. The Amazon button is the original Switch cartridge, 52.79 dollars at my Oct 26 check, sold by a third-party seller (Woot) and shipped by Amazon, with only one left in stock at that moment. Switch 2 owners can also buy the separate Nintendo Switch 2 Edition plus Jamboree TV, which adds mouse, microphone, and camera games; that one was 79 dollars and sold by Amazon.com at my check. The button here is the original game.

Sit with me a moment. I have seen silverbacks lose a whole evening to a single star stolen on the last turn. Mario Party is not a board game. It is a test of how gracefully a family can lose.

What It Wants To Be

Jamboree is a digital board game for up to four players at home. You roll dice, move around a board, collect coins and stars, and play a minigame after every round. It ships with seven boards, some new and some brought back from older games, and Nintendo lists more than 110 minigames. There are side modes too, including Koopathlon, an online race of up to 20 players, and Bowser Kaboom Squad, a team mode against a giant Bowser.

What Works

Critics called it the best Mario Party in a long time. It holds an 82 on Metacritic from more than 90 reviews. The boards are lively, the minigames are mostly short and sharp, and there is enough here to keep a family busy for months. Pro Rally gives serious players a mode with less chaos. The later Switch 2 Edition reviewed lower, at 76, mainly because its new Jamboree TV content does not mix with the base game.

What Breaks

Listen well. Luck still decides plenty of games, and bonus stars at the end can flip a winner into a loser. Online play is limited compared with sitting on one couch, and some minigames lean on motion controls that not everyone enjoys. At my check the cartridge came from a third-party seller with only one left, so the price and seller may change fast.

Who Should Play

Play it if you have a couch, a family, or a group that loves noise. Skip it if you play mostly alone or online, or if losing to dice luck ruins your night.
