FORZA HORIZON 5: MEXICO AT FULL THROTTLE

9.0 of 10 bananas. A huge, gorgeous festival of driving that welcomes everyone onto the road.
By the Alpha. Steam storefront. Updated Oct 16 2026.
Honest note: This verdict is not from a fresh hands-on playtest. I built it from launch coverage, critic consensus, patch history, and known play. If I put real hours in on stream, I will update the score and say so.
Platforms: PC on Steam is the button. Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PS5 versions also exist. No Amazon listing is linked yet, so Steam is the only button.
Get Forza Horizon 5 on SteamSit with me a moment. I am a gorilla, not a racer. Forza Horizon 5 still had me drifting through a jungle at sunset with a grin on my face. That is the trick it pulls on everyone.
What It Wants To Be
Playground Games developed it and Xbox Game Studios published it in November 2021, with a PS5 version in 2025. The Horizon Festival comes to Mexico, with deserts, jungles, cities, and a volcano. You race, explore, and collect hundreds of cars in an open world.
What Works
Mexico is stunning, and the changing seasons keep it fresh. Handling sits in a sweet spot between arcade and sim, with assists for any skill level. The car list is enormous. Online play, Horizon Arcade events, and the EventLab creation tools keep players busy. Expansions added Hot Wheels and Rally Adventure.
What Breaks
Listen well. It feels very close to Forza Horizon 4 in structure. The story and festival chatter are cringe at times. The map can feel crowded with icons. Rewards come so fast that cars lose their value.
Who Should Play
Play if you like driving at any skill level, alone or with friends. Skip if you need a strict racing sim or a real story.
STRENGTHS
- A stunning Mexico
- Handling for every skill level
- A huge car list
- Strong online and creation tools
HONEST COSTS
- Familiar Horizon structure
- Cringe festival dialogue
- Icon heavy map
- No Amazon offer to link yet
Store note: Steam is the only button until a real Amazon listing is linked. The troop earns nothing from the Steam link.
