RAZER BLACKSHARK V2 X: THE CHEAP HEADSET THE TROOP KEEPS BUYING

7.5 of 10 bananas. A light, wired budget headset with a strong mic reputation and a few honest catches.
By the Alpha. Gear review. Updated Oct 13 2026.
Honest note: This is not a hands-on test. I have not worn this headset for this review. I built this verdict from the Amazon listing, the Razer product page, price tracking, and buyer reports. If I get one on stream, I will update the score and say so.
Sit with me a moment. A young gorilla once asked me why his squad never heard his callouts. He had a 200 dollar headset and a mic pointed at his ear. Gear does not fix habits. But a cheap headset with a decent mic, worn right, fixes a lot. That is the BlackShark V2 X pitch, and this week a lot of the troop is buying it.
What It Is
The BlackShark V2 X is Razer's wired, budget esports headset, sold on Amazon as model BlackShark V2 X in black. Per the Amazon listing, it uses Razer TriForce titanium 50 mm drivers, closed earcups with memory foam cushions for passive noise isolation, and a HyperClear cardioid mic on a bendable boom. Razer lists it at 240 grams. It plugs in through a single 3.5 mm jack on a 1.3 meter cable, and the listing names PC, Mac, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The 7.1 surround sound is software based and the listing says it only works on Windows 10 64-bit, so on a console you get stereo. The listing also warns that Xbox One may need a stereo adapter, sold separately.
Why It Is Selling
On October 13 2026, around 10am ET, the BlackShark V2 X sat at number 11 on Amazon's Best Sellers in Video Games, the top headset on that list, and its listing showed number 2 in PC Game Headsets. At my check it was in stock, sold by Amazon.com, at about 35 dollars. Razer lists it from 59.99 dollars on its own store. To be plain with you: this is a steady best seller riding a fall price cut, not a brand new product, and chatter on X is modest. Prices move fast, so check the listing before you buy.
Who It Is For
Players on a budget who want one wired headset for PC, PS5, and Switch, students, and anyone whose friends keep saying they sound like they are in a tunnel. It also suits players who do not want to charge one more battery. Light weight and foam cushions make it a fair pick for long sessions, based on buyer reports.
What To Watch Out For
Listen well. It is wired only. There is no wireless dongle, and although Amazon's spec table mentions Bluetooth, the title, the bullets, and Razer all describe a 3.5 mm wired headset, so do not buy it for Bluetooth. The mic is attached, not detachable. Surround is Windows only. Buyer reports are strong overall, with a 4.3 of 5 average from over 27,000 ratings at my check, but Amazon's own review summary says mic and durability feedback is mixed, with some buyers reporting it stopped working or broke early. Check the return window when you buy.
