7.5 of 10 bananas. Gearbox wraps Borderlands looter shooting in a tabletop fantasy campaign run by Tiny Tina: spells instead of grenades, six classes you can mix, and a joke every ten seconds. Great with friends, repetitive in the endgame.

Honest note: This is not a fresh hands-on playtest. I built this verdict from launch reviews, critic consensus, update history, and what is known about the game today. If I put real hours in on stream, I will update the score and say so.

Platforms: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC (developed by Gearbox, published by 2K, released March 25 2022). The Amazon button is the Next-Level Edition PS5 disc, which 2K says is the full game plus the Dragon Lord Pack cosmetics and weapon. At my Oct 30 2026 check the new copy came from a third-party seller, gamesline, shipped by the seller, at 25.90 dollars. Sellers and prices change, so look at the seller before you pay.

Sit with me a moment. Every troop has the one friend who runs the tabletop game and changes the rules when he gets bored. Tiny Tina is that friend, with explosives. Gearbox handed her the dungeon master chair and let her build a Borderlands game out of dragons, skeletons, and bad puns.

What It Wants To Be

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is a first person looter shooter set inside Bunkers and Badasses, a fantasy tabletop game run by Tina. You shoot, loot, and level like Borderlands, but grenades become spells, melee weapons matter, and you pick from six classes, then add a second class later to mix skills. Between quests you walk a cartoon board game overworld. The cast includes Ashly Burch as Tina, plus Andy Samberg, Wanda Sykes, and Will Arnett. You can play the whole thing in co-op with up to four players online, or split screen for two on console.

What Works

Metacritic shows 76 for the PS5 version. Critics liked the spells and multiclass builds, which make it the most flexible Borderlands style game, and the fantasy setting gives the loot a fresh look. The campaign is a tighter, sillier ride than most of the series, and co-op with friends is where the loot loop shines brightest.

What Breaks

Listen well. Under the wizard hat it is still Borderlands, so enemy types repeat and quests often boil down to go here and shoot that. The jokes come nonstop, and if the humor misses you it misses hard. The endgame Chaos Chamber is a loop of the same rooms for better loot, which some players love and many tire of. Solo, the campaign feels thinner.

Who Should Play

Play it if you love Borderlands, co-op loot grinding, or tabletop fantasy jokes, and you have a friend or three. Skip it if the Borderlands humor already wore you out.

STRENGTHS

  • Spells and multiclass builds add depth
  • Fresh fantasy look for the loot
  • Four player co-op, two player split screen
  • Cheap at my check

HONEST COSTS

  • Repetitive enemies and quests
  • Nonstop jokes can grate
  • Endgame is a repeating loop
  • Third-party seller at my check
