8.0 of 10 bananas. A solo developer's 3D survivors-like where you jump, slide, and level up until your build turns the screen into fireworks. Cheap, silly, and hard to put down, with thin variety once the builds click.

By the Alpha. Steam listing. Updated Oct 29 2026.

Honest note: This is not a fresh hands-on playtest. I built this verdict from launch reviews, critic consensus, update history, and what is known about the game today. If I put real hours in on stream, I will update the score and say so.

Sit with me a moment. My troop lost a whole winter to Vampire Survivors. Then one quiet developer asked what would happen if you could jump, and run up the walls, and bonk a thousand skeletons with a staff in three dimensions. The answer took over my chat for a month.

What It Wants To Be

Megabonk is a roguelike survival game in the style of Vampire Survivors, but in 3D. You drop into a randomly generated map, attacks fire on their own, and you move, jump, and slide to collect XP and loot while hordes and bosses close in. Each level offers random upgrades of different rarity, so every run builds differently. The store page lists 20 characters, 70 plus items, and 240 quests to unlock.

What Works

It became one of the breakout indie hits of autumn 2025, and the store page says it runs on a potato. The movement makes it feel different from flat survivors-likes, the builds snowball into absurd power, and the quest list keeps you chasing one more unlock. Late in 2025 the developer withdrew it from The Game Awards debut indie category because it was not his first game, which says something about his honesty.

What Breaks

Listen well. Once you know the strongest builds, runs can blur together. The screen turns into visual soup at high levels. The 3D camera sometimes hides what kills you. And recent Steam reviews were a little lower than its all time score at my check, so updates have not pleased everyone.

Who Should Play

Play it if you loved Vampire Survivors or Brotato and want more movement and chaos. Skip it if you dislike grinding unlocks or busy screens.

STRENGTHS

  • 3D movement freshens the survivors formula
  • Builds snowball into absurd power
  • Hundreds of quests to chase
  • Cheap and runs on old PCs

HONEST COSTS

  • Runs blur once you know the builds
  • Visual soup at high levels
  • Camera can hide threats
  • PC only
ALPHA VERDICT: 8.0 of 10. A cheap, joyful 3D bonk machine. Buy it, then say goodbye to your evenings. Get Megabonk on Steam, then meet the troop on Twitch.

Store note: the troop still needs an Amazon referral for this one. Megabonk is a digital PC game on Steam, so no Amazon listing exists. Steam is the only button until a fair listing is real. This is not an affiliate link.
