MARIO STRIKERS: BATTLE LEAGUE: SOCCER WITH ELECTRIC FENCES AND A THIN TROPHY CASE

7.0 of 10 bananas. Next Level Games' rough five on five soccer: tackle into electric fences, charge Hyper Strikes, and build a club online. The match feel is excellent; the roster and solo content were thin at launch, and free updates only partly fixed it.
By the Alpha. Switch cartridge listing. Updated Nov 1 2026.
Honest note: This is not a fresh hands-on playtest. I built this verdict from launch reviews, critic consensus, update history, and what is known about the game today. If I put real hours in on stream, I will update the score and say so.
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, and it also plays on Switch 2 (developed by Next Level Games, published by Nintendo, released June 10 2022). The Amazon button is the US version Switch cartridge. At my Nov 1 2026 check it was sold by a third-party seller named BEST SOURCE 365 and shipped by Amazon, at 59.99 dollars, which is the original launch price, so it is not a deal. Sellers and prices change, so look at the seller before you pay.

Sit with me a moment. Soccer games ask for patience. Mario Strikers asks for violence, politely. You pass, you tackle Toad into an electric wall, you charge a Hyper Strike, and the whole couch screams at once. For a few rounds, nothing is better.
What It Wants To Be
Mario Strikers: Battle League is an arcade soccer game. Teams of four players plus a goalie play short, rough matches with tackles, items, and special Hyper Strikes worth two goals. Gear changes each character's stats. Up to eight players can play on one Switch, and the online Strikers Club lets friends build a team and compete in seasons.
What Works
Critics praised the mechanics, the multiplayer, and the presentation. Passing and tackling have real depth, Hyper Strikes create big swings, and the animations are full of personality. Local play with friends is loud fun, and the Strikers Club gave competitive players a reason to stay. Free updates added more characters after launch.
What Breaks
Listen well. Critics landed on mixed reviews, and OpenCritic lists 49 percent of critics recommending it. The launch roster was small, single player content is thin, and the stadiums look alike. Gear upgrades are hard to feel, and the tutorials overwhelm. At the full 59.99 dollar launch price from a third-party seller, this is not a bargain in 2026.
Who Should Play
Play it if you have friends on the couch or online who want a fast, rowdy sports game. Skip it if you mostly play alone or want a deep soccer sim.
