HOT WHEELS UNLEASHED 2: ORANGE TRACK, FULL SEND

Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged US PlayStation 5 box art with cars racing on orange track
Box art credit: Milestone, from the Amazon listing the button points to. This is the US PS5 disc the button sells.

7.5 of 10 bananas. Milestone's toy car racer gets jumps, side dashes, motorbikes, and ATVs. Bright, fast, and great for split screen with kids, with a track builder that keeps it going. The car roster leans on paid DLC, and the campaign gets repetitive.

Honest note: This is not a fresh hands-on playtest. I built this verdict from launch reviews, critic consensus, update history, and what is known about the game today. If I put real hours in on stream, I will update the score and say so.

Platforms: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, and PC (Milestone, released October 19 2023). The Amazon button is the US PS5 disc. At my Oct 22 check the new offer came from a third-party seller (BEST SOURCE 365), shipped by Amazon, at 23.97 dollars. Know this before you pay: on PC the Steam version was on sale for 5.99 dollars at the same check, so PC players should buy it there.

Sit with me a moment. Every young ape once laid orange track across the floor and launched a tiny car off the couch. Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 is that afternoon with a turbo button and a split screen.

What It Wants To Be

Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged is an arcade racer. You race licensed Hot Wheels cars, and now motorbikes and ATVs, on toy track loops through bedrooms, a dinosaur park, and other giant real world places. New moves let you jump and dash sideways to dodge or bump rivals, and cars have skills and upgrades. There is a story campaign, split screen and online racing, and a track builder to share your own courses.

What Works

It is pure fun at speed. The toy car models look great, drifting and boosting are easy to learn, and the new jump and side dash add real choices on every lap. Split screen makes it a strong family game, and the track builder gives creative kids endless toys. It feeds our Racing tab with something bright next to the serious sims.

What Breaks

Listen well. Many fan favorite cars come in paid DLC packs, so the full garage costs more. The campaign repeats the same event types for a long time. Its Steam page showed Mostly Positive, about 76 percent of 1,088 user reviews, at my Oct 22 check, a clear step below the best racers. And the disc on Amazon is a third-party seller item, so the price can move.

Who Should Play

Play it if you want a fun racer for the couch with kids, or if Hot Wheels was your childhood. Skip it if you want deep racing or hate DLC car packs.
