CLIVE BARKER'S HELLRAISER: REVIVAL: FAITHFUL FLESH, BROKEN BONES

7.0 of 10 bananas. A fearless, faithful Hellraiser that nails the Cenobites and the dread, then trips over bugs, weak bosses, and clunky combat.
By the Alpha. PS5 disc listing. Updated Oct 17 2026.
Honest note: This is not a fresh hands-on playtest. I built this verdict from launch reviews, critic consensus, update history, and what is known about the game today. If I put real hours in on stream, I will update the score and say so.
Platforms: The Amazon button is the US PS5 physical release (Saber Interactive, ESRB Mature, released October 8 2026). At my Oct 17 check it was sold by Amazon.com at 39.99 dollars and sat at number 22 in Amazon Best Sellers in Video Games. Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC on Steam versions also exist. Nintendo Life measured 30 frames per second with dips on Switch 2, so a PS5 or PC is the better home. Listen well: this game is extremely graphic, with full nudity, sex, and torture from the opening hour. Adults only.
Get Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival for PS5 on AmazonSit with me a moment. Some doors in the jungle should stay shut. Hellraiser has always been about the fool who opens one anyway. I came to this game wary, because licensed horror usually wears the mask and forgets the face. This one remembers the face. It just keeps tripping on the stairs.
What It Wants To Be
Revival is a first-person survival horror game from Saber Interactive. You play Aiden, who loses his girlfriend Sunny to Pinhead and the Cenobites after a night that goes very wrong, and follows her into the Labyrinth. Doug Bradley returns as Pinhead for the first time since 2005, and Clive Barker was involved. The structure borrows from modern Resident Evil: scarce ammo, an inventory and merchant, puzzles, stealth, melee, and guns, plus chase sequences through the Labyrinth.
What Works
It is faithful to a degree the films never managed. GameSpot called it the best entry in the franchise since the original film, praising its fidelity and how its systems fit together by the end of a roughly 10 hour run. Game Rant called it the comeback fans waited decades for. The original Cenobites look and sound right, the Labyrinth chases are memorable, and fans are giving it 8s and 9s.
What Breaks
Listen well. Bugs are everywhere in the coverage. Game Informer described falling through floors, audio dropping out, and subtitles that do not match, and Nintendo Life hit a progression block that forced a restart. Stealth AI is weak, bosses repeat, melee feels mushy, and the opening hours stumble. OpenCritic shows a 73 top critic average with 60 percent recommending it, and Metacritic lists 69 on PS5. There is no New Game Plus.
Who Should Play
Play it if you are a Hellraiser fan who can stomach extreme content and forgive jank. Wait for patches and a sale if you just want a tight survival horror game; Resident Evil does that job cleaner.
