AMNESIA: THE BUNKER: FEED THE GENERATOR, PRAY IT HOLDS

8.0 of 10 bananas. Frictional trades its usual corridors for a sealed World War One bunker, one creature that hunts by sound, and a generator you must keep fed. The most systemic and replayable Amnesia, but short, and the loop can tip into chores.
By the Alpha. Steam listing. Updated Oct 23 2026.
Honest note: This is not a fresh hands-on playtest. I built this verdict from launch reviews, critic consensus, update history, and what is known about the game today. If I put real hours in on stream, I will update the score and say so.
Platforms: PC on Steam, plus PS4 and Xbox (Frictional Games, released June 6 2023). The button on this page is the Steam store page, where it was on sale at 4.99 dollars, down from 24.99, at my Oct 23 check. I found no fair US physical listing on Amazon, so there is no Amazon button.
Get Amnesia: The Bunker on SteamSit with me a moment. The worst fear in the jungle is not the beast you can see. It is the one you can hear moving in the dark, and the slow knowledge that your light is running out. Amnesia: The Bunker is built on exactly that fear.
What It Wants To Be
You play Henri Clement, a French soldier who wakes in a bunker on the Western Front in 1916. The exits are sealed, and something is living in the walls. You have a dynamo flashlight that makes noise when you crank it, a revolver with almost no bullets, and a generator that keeps the lights on as long as you feed it fuel. The goal is to find a way out while the creature hunts you by sound.
What Works
This is the most open and systemic game Frictional has made. Item and code locations change between runs, so you plan instead of memorize. Every tool solves a problem and makes a new one: grenades break doors and bring the beast, the flashlight saves you and gives you away. The generator clock turns every trip into a gamble, and the creature feels like a real presence instead of a scripted jump. Critics at launch called it a bold turn for the series, and I agree with them on the proof.
What Breaks
Listen well. It is short, around five hours for a first escape. Once you understand the creature, some of the fear turns into routine fuel runs. The default difficulty can feel cruel when one noise ends a long run, and the story is thinner than SOMA or The Dark Descent. If you hate losing progress, the tension can turn to frustration.
Who Should Play
Play it if you love horror that makes you think, plan, and improvise, or if you want a short, sharp October night. Skip it if you want a long story or cannot stand losing progress to one mistake.

Store note: the troop still needs an Amazon referral for this one. At my Oct 23 check I found no US Amazon listing for this game. Steam is the only button until a fair listing is real. This is not an affiliate link.
