YOSHI'S CRAFTED WORLD: A CARDBOARD JUNGLE WITH A BACK SIDE

7.5 of 10 bananas. Good-Feel's papercraft Yoshi platformer, where every level is built from boxes, cups, and tape, and you can play it again from the back side. Charming and relaxed for two players, but slow, easy, and padded with collectible hunts.

Honest note: This is not a fresh hands-on playtest. I built this verdict from launch reviews, critic consensus, update history, and what is known about the game today. If I put real hours in on stream, I will update the score and say so.

Sit with me a moment. Some evenings the troop does not want a fight. They want a cup of something warm and a game that does not shout. I keep a short list for those nights. This cardboard diorama, where a milk carton is a building and a paper cup is a boat, sits near the top.
What It Wants To Be
Yoshi's Crafted World is a 2.5D side scrolling platformer. Baby Bowser and Kamek are after the Sundream Stone, and the Yoshis chase them across a world made of craft supplies. You throw eggs into the foreground and background, eat enemies, and flutter jump. Every level can also be played flipped, from the back, where you see the tape and price tags and hunt for hidden Poochy Pups. Two players can play together on one screen, and Mellow Mode gives Yoshi wings for the youngest players.
What Works
Critics put it in the high 70s on Metacritic. The art is the star: every level looks hand built and full of jokes once you aim an egg at the scenery. Throwing into the depth of the scene is a fun twist on the usual side scroller. Co-op is relaxed, and one Yoshi can even ride on the other. It is a lovely first platformer for a young ape.
What Breaks
Listen well. It is slow and easy for most of the run, and the flipside levels replay stages you already did. The real challenge hides in collecting flowers and costume sets, which turns into grinding. Players who want speed or tight challenge will drift away. And it is a 2019 game still priced near launch, so watch the seller price.
Who Should Play
Play it if you want a calm co-op game for a parent and child, or a craft lover who appreciates art direction. Skip it if you want a challenge or speed; Donkey Kong Country Returns HD or Celeste will feed that hunger.
