8.5 of 10 bananas. Omega Force and Nintendo's March 2026 Pokemon life sim: you play a Ditto rebuilding a world the humans left, with help from Pokemon who move in. Warm, clever, and huge; the gathering and inventory grind wear thin over a very long game.

Honest note: This is not a fresh hands-on playtest. I built this verdict from launch reviews, critic consensus, update history, and what is known about the game today. If I put real hours in on stream, I will update the score and say so.

Platforms: Nintendo Switch 2 only (developed by Omega Force, published by Nintendo and The Pokemon Company, released March 5 2026). Sit with me a moment. I have seen many Pokemon games where you catch and battle. This is the first where you just help them come home. The old silverback did not expect to feel this soft about a Ditto.

What It Wants To Be

Pokopia is a cozy building and life sim in the vein of Dragon Quest Builders and Animal Crossing. The world has withered and the humans are gone. As a Ditto, you gather resources, build habitats and homes, and attract Pokemon back. Each Pokemon teaches you new abilities, like watering, breaking walls, or flying, which open new areas. There is no combat.

What Works

Critics adored it. Metacritic shows an 89 from 116 critics, with 97 percent positive, and the user score is an 8.6 from more than 1,800 ratings. Siliconera gave it a perfect score, and CD-Action called it the best Pokemon game in years. Reviewers praise how the Pokemon have personalities and react to your builds, and the story goes deeper than you expect.

What Breaks

Listen well. TheGamer gave it a 60 and called the building quests rigid and repetitive. Edge gave it an 80. Players warn that resource farming and inventory management become a real grind, that a full run can take 100 hours or more, and that performance stutters late in the game. A cap on how many Pokemon live in an area can frustrate collectors.

Who Should Play

Play it if you love cozy builders, Animal Crossing, or Pokemon and want something gentle. Skip it if you want battles or hate gathering loops.
