LUIGI'S MANSION 3: A HAUNTED HOTEL FOR THE BRAVEST COWARD

8.5 of 10 bananas. The funniest haunted house in gaming, packed with floor after themed floor of ghosts to vacuum, a gooey co-op partner, and the best Halloween pick on the Switch.
By the Alpha. Switch game listing. Updated Oct 19 2026.
Honest note: This is not a fresh hands-on playtest. I built this verdict from launch reviews, critic consensus, update history, and what is known about the game today. If I put real hours in on stream, I will update the score and say so.
Platforms: The Amazon button is the US Nintendo Switch game card (Next Level Games and Nintendo, released October 31 2019). It also plays on Nintendo Switch 2. At my Oct 19 check the offer came from a third-party seller, shipped by Amazon, at 49.00 dollars, so check the seller before you pay. No PC, PlayStation, or Xbox version.
Get Luigi's Mansion 3 for Switch on AmazonSit with me a moment. Bravery is not having no fear. Bravery is shaking in your green overalls and opening the door anyway. Luigi understands this better than any hero in gaming, and this October the troop needs a game that is spooky without ruining anyone's sleep.
What It Wants To Be
Luigi, Mario, Peach, and the Toads get a free stay at the Last Resort, a towering hotel. It is a trap. King Boo captures everyone but Luigi, who has to climb the hotel floor by floor with the Poltergust G-00 vacuum. Each floor has its own theme, from a movie studio to a museum to a medieval castle, with its own puzzles and boss ghost. Gooigi, a gelatin copy of Luigi, can slip through grates and walk over spikes, and a second player can control him.
What Works
The animation is a cartoon you get to play. Luigi whimpers, hums along with the music, and flails while ghosts drag him around. Every floor is a self-contained theme park of puzzles, and the vacuum slam, where you smash a caught ghost into the floor, never stops being satisfying. Gooigi makes co-op natural. ScareScraper lets up to eight players climb a random tower together. Critics put it in the mid eighties on aggregate, and many called it the best looking game on the original Switch.
What Breaks
Listen well. Combat is the same loop all game: flash, pull, slam. Some boss fights drag on longer than their gimmick deserves. Hunting all the hidden gems pushes you to scan every room twice, which some players love and others find tedious. The multiplayer modes are fun for a night, not a lifestyle, and the ScreamPark minigames run out of ideas fast.
Who Should Play
Play it if you want a funny, gentle spooky game for October, especially as a pair on the couch. Skip it if repetitive combat bores you quickly or you want a real horror scare.
