DYING LIGHT 2: RUN BY DAY, PRAY BY NIGHT

8.0 of 10 bananas. The best parkour in the jungle and a city that bites after dark. The story never earns its big promises.
By the Alpha. PS5 disc listing. Updated Oct 11 2026.
Honest note: This is not a fresh hands-on playtest. I built this verdict from launch reviews, critic consensus, patch history, and what is known about the game today. If I put real hours in on stream, I will update the score and say so.
Platforms: The PS5 disc is the Amazon button. At my check it was sold by a third-party seller and shipped by Amazon, with low stock. Check the seller and price before you pay. The game also runs on PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on Steam, where it is now sold as the Reloaded Edition. Up to four players can share the campaign in online co-op.
Get Dying Light 2 Stay Human for PS5 on AmazonSit with me a moment. I swing through trees for a living, so I judge movement harshly. Dying Light 2 passed the test on the first rooftop. Then the sun went down, the Volatiles started screaming, and I ran faster than I have run in years, laughing and terrified at the same time.
What It Wants To Be
Techland's 2022 sequel moves to Villedor, one of the last human cities after a zombie outbreak. You play Aiden Caldwell, a wanderer who is slowly turning, and you pick sides between factions as you climb. The pitch was a city that changes with your choices, a bigger parkour toolbox with a paraglider and grappling hook, and a day and night cycle where the night belongs to the monsters.
What Works
Movement is king. Wall runs, vaults, and glides chain together into something close to flow, and the city is built for climbing. Night is the best part: stealth, panic, and chases that feel like a horror film. Co-op with friends turns it into chaos in the good way. Years of free updates fixed bugs, sharpened combat, and added content, so the game today is far better than the launch build.
What Breaks
Listen well. The story is flat, and your big choices change less than the marketing promised. Melee combat is serviceable, not great. The map can feel like repeated rooftops after a while. Launch was buggy, especially co-op. Some of those scars still show.
Who Should Play
Play if you love movement, open city zombie games, or co-op chaos with friends. Skip if you want a strong story with choices that really matter. If you already played Dying Light: The Beast, this is the bigger city that came before it.
