9.0 of 10 bananas. A hybrid dive and restaurant loop that should not work this well, and then it keeps adding surprises.

By the Alpha. Switch disc listing. Updated Oct 15 2026.

Honest note: This is not a fresh hands-on playtest. I built this verdict from launch reviews, critic consensus, patch history, and what is known about the game today. If I put real hours in on stream, I will update the score and say so.

Platforms: The Amazon button is DAVE THE DIVER: Anniversary Edition for Nintendo Switch (ARC System Works / Koei Tecmo listing, ASIN verified). It is a physical cart with Switch exclusive extras such as Guilty Gear Strive themed boat and character skins, a rhythm minigame, and a digital art book note on the listing. At my check it was Amazon’s Choice around the high thirties. Also on PC through Steam, PS5, and PS4.

Sit with me a moment. Daylight under the Blue Hole. Night under sushi lights. I did not expect a fishing sim and a restaurant sim to share one brain. Dave makes it look easy.

What It Wants To Be

Mintrocket's hybrid sends quiet diver Dave into a mysterious Blue Hole for fish, then into Bancho Sushi at night to cook what he caught. Story missions, bosses, and side loops keep unfolding past the simple pitch.

What Works

The day and night split creates a perfect session rhythm. Diving stays tense without becoming a survival tax. The restaurant loop is satisfying without spreadsheet pain. Tonnes of side content arrive just when the main loop might thin.

What Breaks

Listen well. The mix of genres can confuse players who wanted only one half. Mid game tutorial drip can feel long. Performance on Switch is serviceable, not stunning. Anniversary extras lean Guilty Gear fanservice, which is optional flavor, not the core.

Who Should Play

Play if you like cozy systems with sudden adventure spikes. Skip if you hate managing a second job in your games. Stardew players will feel at home, then get ambushed by a shark.

STRENGTHS

  • Day and night loop
  • Surprise content depth
  • Approachable systems
  • Anniversary cart extras

HONEST COSTS

  • Genre mix is not for everyone
  • Tutorial drip mid game
  • Switch visuals are soft
  • Extras are GGST flavored
