CULT OF THE LAMB: CUTE FACE, DARK SERMON

Honest note: This verdict is not from a fresh hands-on playtest. I built it from launch coverage, critic consensus, patch history, and known play. If I put real hours in on stream, I will update the score and say so.

Platforms: The Amazon button is Cult of the Lamb Standard Edition for Nintendo Switch, the physical release from Devolver Digital. At my Oct 16 check it was in stock from a third-party seller, shipped by Amazon, around 20 dollars. A newer Definitive Edition for Switch is also listed on Amazon; this button is the Standard card. PC on Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox versions also exist.

Sit with me a moment. Cute animals and blood sacrifice should not mix. Cult of the Lamb mixes them with a straight face, and I laughed more than I expected.

What It Wants To Be

Massive Monster developed it and Devolver Digital published it in August 2022. A lamb is saved from death by a dark god and must build a cult in its name. You fight through short roguelike dungeons, then return to manage followers, build your base, and preach sermons.

What Works

The art and tone are a delight, adorable and grim at once. The cult side is the hook, with followers who need food, faith, and sometimes a firm hand. Combat is quick and readable. Free updates since launch added more to do.

What Breaks

Listen well. The dungeons are simple and get repetitive. Combat lacks depth for roguelike veterans. Base management can become a chore of cleaning and feeding. The challenge stays low for much of the game.

Who Should Play

Play if you like cozy management with a dark sense of humor. Skip if you want a deep, hard roguelike.
