BAYONETTA 3: GIANT DEMONS, MULTIVERSE MADNESS, AND THE FLASHIEST COMBAT ON SWITCH

8.5 of 10 bananas. PlatinumGames' third Bayonetta lets you summon giant demons mid combo and hop across a multiverse. Wild, stylish, and deep, with a messy story, an ending that split fans, and frame drops on the old Switch.

Honest note: This is not a fresh hands-on playtest. I built this verdict from launch reviews, critic consensus, update history, and what is known about the game today. If I put real hours in on stream, I will update the score and say so.
Platforms: Nintendo Switch only, and it also plays on Switch 2 (developed by PlatinumGames, published by Nintendo, released October 28 2022). The Amazon button is the Switch cartridge. At my Oct 31 2026 check it was sold by a third-party seller named JADD ENTERTAINMENT and shipped by Amazon, a little under the 59.99 dollar price, and the listing photo shows the US ESRB box. Sellers and prices change, so look at the seller before you pay.

Sit with me a moment. Most action games ask you to master one weapon. Bayonetta 3 hands you a gun on every limb, then lets you summon a demon the size of a skyscraper in the middle of your combo. It is ridiculous. It is also some of the best fighting on any Nintendo system.
What It Wants To Be
Bayonetta 3 is a character action game. Bayonetta travels through a multiverse to stop a force called Singularity, fighting creatures called Homunculi with fast combos, dodges that trigger Witch Time, and Demon Masquerade, which channels her summoned demons into new moves. Demon Slave lets you directly control giant demons while she keeps fighting. A new character, Viola, has her own playstyle.
What Works
Critics placed it in the high 80s on Metacritic. The combat is deep and endlessly creative, with many weapons and demons to master. Set pieces are enormous and wild, the music is great, and the replay value is high for players chasing Platinum ranks.
What Breaks
Listen well. The story is confusing and its ending divided the fan base. Viola's sections are weaker than Bayonetta's. On the original Switch the frame rate and resolution drop in big fights. The game is sexual and violent, rated M. And before launch, a public dispute over pay with the series' former voice actress turned some fans away.
Who Should Play
Play it if you love Devil May Cry style action and spectacle. Skip it if you want a clear story, or if you have not played the first two; start with Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2.
