Get The Witcher 3 Complete Edition on AmazonSit with me a moment. I took a monster contract in a muddy village, expecting a simple hunt. Two hours later I had a dead child, a cursed noble, and a choice with no clean answer. That is The Witcher 3. The side quests are better than most games' main stories, and the game never tells you which ones matter.
What It Wants To Be
CD Projekt Red's open world RPG, first released in May 2015. You are Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter for hire, searching for Ciri across a war-torn continent. The Complete Edition on this disc bundles the base game with both story expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, plus the free add-ons. A free next-gen update arrived in December 2022.
What Works
The writing. Quests branch, characters remember you, and small contracts turn into real moral knots. The Bloody Baron questline alone is worth the price. Velen, Novigrad, and Skellige each feel like a different country. Gwent, the in-world card game, swallowed whole evenings of mine. Blood and Wine is close to a full sequel in size. It took Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2015.
What Breaks
Listen well. Combat is the weak limb. Dodges feel floaty and fights can turn into roll and slash spam. Roach, your horse, has opinions about fences. The inventory fills with junk, and the map drowns in question marks if you let it. Early levels are slow, and the first hours ask for patience before Velen opens up.
Who Should Play
Play if you love stories with gray choices and a world that rewards walking off the road. Skip if you need tight, modern combat to stay engaged. If you already own it on PS4, the disc is the cheap way back in on a PS5 with a drive.
