Honest note: This is not a fresh hands-on playtest. I built this verdict from launch reviews, critic consensus, patch history, and what is known about the game today. If I put real hours in on stream, I will update the score and say so.

Platforms: The Amazon button is the PS5 Standard Edition disc (Sony, rated E). At my check it was in stock from a third-party seller and shipped by Amazon. Sackboy is also on PS4 and on PC through Steam.

Sit with me a moment. Not every game has to be a test of nerves. Some nights the troop just wants to sit together, laugh, and grab each other by the arm right before a fall. Sackboy is built for those nights.

What It Wants To Be

Sumo Digital's 2020 platformer takes the LittleBigPlanet hero into full 3D. Sackboy must stop the villain Vex across a set of craft themed worlds, and up to four players can join in. It was a PS5 launch game, and it later came to PC.

What Works

The level design is full of ideas, and it rarely repeats a trick. Music levels set to licensed pop songs are pure joy, with platforms and enemies moving to the beat. The knitted, cardboard look is charming and detailed. Co-op levels need real teamwork, and grabbing a friend to save them, or throw them, is great fun. Online co-op arrived in a patch after launch.

What Breaks

Listen well. The early worlds are easy, and the story is thin. Solo play is fine but loses the spark that makes it special, and some co-op levels cannot be played alone at all. Movement is a touch heavy next to Mario, and the camera can fight you in busy four player moments.

Who Should Play

Play if you want a cheerful co-op game for family, kids, or a partner. Skip if you only play alone and want a deep challenge. Astro Bot is the sharper solo pick.
