What It Wants To Be
A strategy RPG remaster of Final Fantasy Tactics: voiced scenes, cleaner presentation, and the job system that made a generation miss dinner. Square Enix shipped it in 2025. Our button is the PS5 copy.
What Works
The story still has teeth. The job grid still lets you build a strange little army. Quality-of-life updates make the classic less of a maze, and the voice work gives the court actual breath. This is how you honor an old map.
What Breaks
Listen well. Battles are slow on purpose. Permadeath habits and dense plotting will lose players who wanted spectacle. It is a 1997 design in a new coat, not a new tactics game from zero. Buying the PS5 listing does not give you the Steam copy.
Who Should Play
Play if you want the best tactical RPG lesson still on the market, or if you never finished Ivalice the first time. Skip if you need real-time action or a short campaign.
