LOGITECH G305 LIGHTSPEED: THE BUDGET MOUSE THE TROOP KEEPS BUYING

8.0 of 10 bananas. A light, honest wireless gaming mouse with a famous battery life, now riding a big fall sale.
By the Alpha. Gear review. Updated Oct 12 2026.
Honest note: This is not a hands-on test. I have not used this mouse for this review. I built this verdict from the Logitech G specs, the Amazon listing, recent coverage, and buyer reports. If I get one on stream, I will update the score and say so.
Sit with me a moment. I have watched young gorillas spend a month of bananas on a mouse with more lights than a casino. Then they ask me what I use, and I point at something small and plain. The G305 is that kind of mouse. It has been around since 2018, and this week the whole troop seems to be buying one.
What It Is
The G305 LIGHTSPEED is a compact wireless gaming mouse from Logitech G, model 910-005280 for the black Classic version. Per the Amazon listing and Logitech, it uses the HERO optical sensor with up to 12,000 DPI and 400 IPS tracking, LIGHTSPEED wireless with a 1 ms report rate, and six programmable buttons with on-board memory. It runs on one AA battery, which is included. Logitech rates it at up to 250 hours of continuous play, and Endurance mode in the G HUB app stretches that to up to 9 months. Logitech lists it at 99 grams, and the USB receiver stores inside the mouse for travel. Amazon lists it as compatible with PC and Mac.
Why It Is Trending
On October 12 2026, around 10am ET, the black G305 sat at number 8 on Amazon's Best Sellers in Video Games. Its listing showed number 1 in PC Gaming Mice and a 10K+ bought in past month badge. The same morning, Kotaku ran a deal story saying the black model was down to about 30 dollars in Amazon's fall sale, and deal accounts on X have been posting it all weekend. To be plain with you: this buzz is driven by a price cut, not by new hardware. Prices move fast, so check the listing before you buy.
Who It Is For
PC players on a budget, students, and anyone with a gaming laptop who wants a light wireless mouse that lives in a backpack. It suits claw and fingertip grips and small to medium hands. It is also a solid desk mouse for work, since the battery lasts so long.
What To Watch Out For
Listen well. It runs on an AA battery, so there is no USB charging and no charging pad support. It connects through its USB receiver, and Logitech does not list Bluetooth for it. The shape is small and ambidextrous, but the side buttons sit on the left only, so lefties lose them. Buyer reports are strong overall, with a 4.6 of 5 average from over 40,000 ratings at my check, but Amazon's own review summary flags mixed durability and a real number of double click complaints on the left button after long use. Color options sell at different prices, so make sure the color and style in your cart match what you want.
